About Us
We are Jason and Sara, and we are the parents of an autistic child. When our son was diagnosed in early 2009, we were told how very important Early Intervention was. The sooner we could get our son real help, the better the chances that he could live a normal life.
This journey led us to Oregon where we enrolled Jackson in a wonderful Pre-K autism classroom, specializing in Applied Behavioral Analysis and other forms of Early Autism Intervention. As we have watched and gleaned from the professionals at this school, we realized that our son would not progress very far unless we were reinforcing what his teachers were already doing with him in the afternoon. The teaching showed us all sorts of practical techniques could be reinforced every day around the house. In other words, even though you need a MD to diagnose autism, we didn’t need one to help our son.
This site is all about sharing practical ideas to help our children. We have learned some things that have worked well, and some things that haven’t. And, like other parents of kids with autism, we are always looking for new ideas. So we want to share our discoveries, pass on all sorts of book reviews and app reviews, point to helpful resources, and in general, spread the hope. We’re not experts and we’re not giving medical advice, so don’t expect us to get too technical, aside from some basic definitions. We just want to pass on ideas that seem to work for us. We can only hope and pray that you those things might help you, too.
